Respiratory Diseases – Common Cold Diet

Common Cold Diet should be light nutritious and well balanced. Avoid fried food, milk and milk products in any form for 13 to 20 day totally.  Eat light dinner by 7 PM. Avoid all refrigerated items including water. Avoid ice cream, soft drinks, overloading of stomach with sweet dishes at night time, dust, flumes, pollution, air-conditioning, smell of varnish, paints, spray, perfumes, smoke etc. Take garlic, tulsi water, black pepper, ginger, dates, figs, soya, carrot, sesame seeds, gram, Vitamin C 1000 mg to 2000 mg daily.

Respiratory Diseases – Cold Diet – General Hints

a). Wear socks and shoes and not chapels. Cut/clean nails.

b). Wear sweater and muffler rolling it around the neck and covering the chest.

c). Take minimum 8 glasses of water/liquids including 4 glasses of lemon water daily (lemon water during treatment period only).

d). Rest more and work less for at least one week.

e). Have sound sleep for 7 to 8 hours daily.

f). Expose the body to sunlight and fresh air breathing deeply every day.

g). Bowels must be cleared even morning.

h). Take plenty of enzyme-rich food (papaya, tomato, carrots, spinach), fiber, roughage (whole wheat flour, lots of vegetables, soups. fruit juices, fruits etc.), besides the following items:

Soya, potato, cabbage, dry fruits, pears, hole grain bread, raisins, figs, apricot, dates, garlic, ajwain, molasses, honey, tomato, apple, guava, grapes, lemon, citrus fruits, raspberry, fenugreek, amla, carrot, spinach, peas, sesame seed, gram.

Medium of cooking may be soya oil or mustard oil mixed with safflower oil in equal quantity.

Respiratory Diseases – Sinusitis

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the Para-Nasal Sinuses (PNS). The PNS are small air cavities in the bones around the nose, which communicate with the nose. Infection of the nose, mouth, teeth, throat, tonsils can cause Sinusitis. Other factors are – swimming in infected water, low general health, exposure to cold, fatigue and tooth extraction. Inhalation of irritants like pungent vapors, dust may also play a role.
